Biography

Max Blecher is the founder and Managing Director of Virtual Alliance, a company specialising in the provision of IT governance, risk and compliance services to large corporations and government institutions in South Africa.
He is the chair of South African National Standards Body mirror committee on IT Service Management and IT Governance and heads the South African delegation to ISO for this committee (ISO/IEC JTC1/SC40). Max is also a participating member of the international team developing the ISO/IEC standard on the Governance of Artificial Intelligence.
Max has advised business leaders and IT executives for more than 25 years on the adoption of international IT governance best practices, thereby helping organisations better manage digital risks, improve IT performance and deliver value to the Business.
Max is often invited to speak at conferences, both locally and internationally, and has conducted various training courses. He holds a BSc. (Hons) degree from the University of the Witwatersrand and is CGEIT certified.
Max is also a past president of the South Africa chapter of ISACA, a previous member of the IT Governance Committee of the ITGI and has participated in the development and review of several COBIT publications.
