Bilal Kathrada is an EdTech entrepreneur and is the founder of IT varsity. He also runs two other companies, CompuKids and Xander. He is a software engineer by profession, and is also an author, keynote speaker, newspaper columnist, strategic business, and education digital transformation advisor. He is an award-winning app developer. His Maths app Ritmetic won the Vodacom Appstar award in 2012 and was the MTN App of the Year finalist in 2018.

He also consults a number of educational institutes and businesses on transformation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He is a weekly columnist for the Cape Argus, the Star and the Daily News. His passion is education and developing the youth and frequently publishes articles  about technology trends and education.

He has appeared on both television and radio, such as SABC 3 and SAFM. He has a podcast entitled “Tech Watch” which covers the latest developments in technology and the social implications which is also available on a number of local and international platforms.
