CISA®

The Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA®) is ISACA’s cornerstone certification. The CISA ®certification has been earned by more than 50,000 professionals since inception and is for the IS audit, control, assurance and/or security professional who wishes to set themselves apart from their peers.Since 1978, the CISA® certification has been renowned as the globally recognized achievement for those who control, monitor and assess an organization’s information technology and business systems.

The South African chapter cannot process exam requests or provide exam materials.

Exam Registration

The CISA® exam is held every June and December. For exam dates and registration fees see the certification page.  

Note that there are ‘early bird’ discounts available, as well as member discounts.

Examples of  materials available from isaca bookstore are as follows:

The CISA Review Manual 2009 has been revised and updated with new content to reflect changing industry principles and practices, and is organized according to the current CISA job practice areas. The manual features detailed descriptions of the tasks performed by IS auditors and the knowledge required to plan, manage and perform IS audits.

The new edition also features new case studies to assist a candidate’s understanding of current practices. Also included are definitions of terms most commonly found on the exam, practice questions similar in content to what has previously appeared on the exam and references to additional study materials on specific topics. This manual can be used as a stand-alone document for individual study or as a guide or reference for study groups and chapters conducting local review courses.

The 2009 edition has been developed and is organized to help prepare the CISA®  candidate in studying the following job practice areas:
• The IS audit process
• IT governance
• Systems and infrastructure life cycle management
• IT service delivery and support
• Protection of information assets
• Business continuity and disaster recovery

CISM®

The Certified Information Security Manager (CISM®) certification is a unique management focused certification that has been earned by over 7,000 professionals since its introduction in 2003.Unlike other security certifications, CISM® is for the individual who manages, designs, oversees and assesses an enterprise's information security program.CISM® defines the core competencies and international performance standards that those who have information security management responsibilities must master.

CGEIT®

ISACA® 's new IT Governance certification is intended to recognize a wide range of professionals for their knowledge and application of IT governance principles and practices.  It is designed for professionals who have management, advisory, or assurance responsibilities as defined by a "job practice" consisting of IT governance related tasks and knowledge.  Earning this designation will enable professionals to respond to the growing business demand for a comprehensive IT governance program that defines responsibility and accountability across the entire enterprise.

There is also a grandfathering provision available where experienced IT governance professionals may apply for this certification without writing the exam see the Grandfathering application for requirements etc.
